Army soldier at Disney World

If you’ve worn the uniform, or you’re married to someone who has, Disney owes you a little magic at a discount — and 2026 is one of the best years they’ve ever offered.

Disney’s 2026 military program is the most expansive in recent memory. There’s a new America 250th anniversary ticket at Walt Disney World, the familiar Military Salute tickets at both U.S. resorts, hotel discounts up to 30% off, a $250 onboard credit on Disney Cruise Line, and Shades of Green — Disney’s military-only resort — sitting right inside Walt Disney World property at flat-rate pricing that hasn’t moved in years.

But the program is also confusing. Different tickets at each coast. Different eligibility rules at Shades of Green versus the Salute program. Blockout dates that catch families off guard. A new 2026 verification rule at Walt Disney World that didn’t exist last year. And nothing — nothing — about the program is intuitive to a service member who’s never planned a Disney trip before.

This guide is written by a veteran-owned travel agency that plans Disney trips for military families every week. We’ll walk you through every part of the 2026 program — what’s available, who qualifies, where to buy, how to avoid the blockout dates, and the small mistakes that cost military families money every year. By the end, you’ll know exactly what your family is eligible for, what it’ll cost, and how to lock it in.

Last updated: May 2026. Disney program details can change without notice. Always verify current pricing and eligibility through your military base ticket office, Shades of Green, or an authorized travel partner before booking.

Quick Summary: What’s New for 2026

  • New Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket at Walt Disney World — a year-style ticket valid January 1 through December 18, 2026 for about $499 plus tax. Disney calls this its most generous military ticket ever.
  • Returning 4-, 5-, and 6-day Military Salute tickets at Walt Disney World, plus 3- and 4-day Park Hopper tickets at Disneyland.
  • New 1-day Disneyland military ticket valid through December 30, 2027 with no blockout dates — useful if you only need one park day.
  • $250 onboard credit per stateroom on 2026 Disney Wish and Disney Dream sailings from Florida.
  • Tiered hotel discounts up to 30% off at Walt Disney World resorts.
  • New 2026 verification rule at Walt Disney World: the eligible service member or spouse must be present the first time the tickets are used at a park entrance. After that one-time check, family members can enter independently.

Who Qualifies for the Disney Military Discount in 2026?

Disney’s military program is broader than most people realize. You don’t have to be active duty, and you don’t have to be Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marines. The Salute program covers six service branches plus several adjacent categories.

Eligible service members
  • Active duty members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force
  • Members of the National Guard and current active Reservists
  • Retired members of any of the above (including gray-area retirees)
  • Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS)
  • Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
  • 100% service-connected disabled veterans (with a DD Form 1173 or DD Form 2765)
  • Un-remarried widows and widowers of eligible service members
  • Foreign military assigned to U.S. bases with a U.S. Military ID
A key rule that trips families up

The eligible service member or their spouse (but not both, in the same year) can purchase up to six Military Salute tickets. One of those six must be used by the service member or spouse. The other five can be used by any family members or friends, but they have to enter the parks with the service member or spouse on the first use day.

New for 2026 at Walt Disney World: Disney now requires the service member or spouse to be physically present at the park entrance the first time the tickets are used. After that one-time check, your guests can enter the parks on their own for the rest of the trip. This is a meaningful change — in past years, the verification was looser, and some families got caught off guard at the gate.

Walt Disney World Military Tickets in 2026

Walt Disney World offers two types of discounted military tickets in 2026. Both require advance park reservations, both have blockout dates, and both must be used by December 18, 2026.

Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket (NEW)

This is the headline offer for 2026, introduced for America’s 250th anniversary. It’s an unlimited-admission ticket valid for nearly the entire year, priced at approximately $499 plus tax per person. Disney has called it the most generous military theme park ticket they’ve ever released.

Key details:

  • Valid January 1 through December 18, 2026
  • Unlimited park admissions during the offer window
  • Subject to blockout dates: March 29 through April 11, 2026, and November 22 through 28, 2026
  • Holders can hold up to 5 park reservations at a time on a rolling basis
  • Park Hopper and Park Hopper Plus options available
  • Does NOT include parking, dining discounts, or Annual Pass perks — it’s not an Annual Pass
4-, 5-, and 6-Day Disney Military Salute Tickets

The traditional Salute tickets are back for 2026. These are best for families taking a single trip of 4–6 park days and don’t need year-long access.

  • Valid January 1 through December 18, 2026
  • Same blockout dates as the Celebrates America ticket
  • Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus options available
  • Park reservations required for every day of entry
The 6-ticket cap is shared

Important

The 6-ticket-per-service-member limit applies to all Military Promotional Tickets combined. You can mix and match; for example, 3 Salute tickets plus 3 Celebrates America tickets, but the total cannot exceed 6. You can’t buy 6 of one type and 6 of the other.

Disneyland Resort Military Tickets in 2026

Disneyland’s program is structured differently than Walt Disney World’s, and there are some advantages worth noting — especially if you live on the West Coast or have a PCS to a California base.

3-Day and 4-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Tickets
  • 3-Day Military Park Hopper: $314
  • 3-Day with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $416
  • 4-Day Military Park Hopper: $369
  • 4-Day with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $505
  • Valid January 1 through December 31, 2026
  • No blockout dates at Disneyland — a major advantage over the Walt Disney World program
New 1-Day Military Ticket

Disneyland introduced a new single-day military ticket for 2026 that’s unusually flexible:

  • 1-Day, 1-Park Adult: $104
  • 1-Day, 1-Park Child: $98
  • Valid through December 30, 2027 — yes, into next year
  • No blockout dates
  • Park reservations still required

If your family already plans frequent California visits, the new 1-day ticket can be stacked across multiple short trips — something the multi-day tickets don’t allow because of the December 31 expiration.

Disney Military Hotel Discounts in 2026

Disney is offering tiered hotel discounts up to 30% off at Walt Disney World resorts in 2026. This is a meaningful change from past years where the discount was a flat percentage.

How the tiered structure works
  • Up to 30% off Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts
  • Up to 25% off Moderate resorts
  • Up to 20% off Value resorts
  • Discounts are higher during peak travel windows

Discounted rooms are available for stays most nights between January 1 and December 18, 2026, with a maximum stay of 14 nights per booking. There’s no limit on how many times you can use the discount during the offer period — useful for families taking multiple short trips.

The rules to know
  • The military member or spouse must occupy the room and present valid military ID at check-in
  • Some resorts and room types are excluded
  • Discount is not combinable with most other Disney offers
  • To book, call (407) 939-7830 for Walt Disney World or (844) 776-0015 for Disneyland and request the Military Salute room discount

Pro tip

Disney doesn’t always publish the actual discounted rates. The phone agent will quote you the price based on your dates and resort. This means it pays to either compare with Shades of Green pricing before you book, or work with a military-specialist travel agent who can run the comparison for you.

Shades of Green: Disney’s Military-Only Resort

Shades of Green is the best-kept secret in military Disney travel. It’s a military-owned and operated resort located on Walt Disney World property, between the Magnolia and Palm golf courses. It’s not a Disney resort in the corporate sense — it’s an Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC), like Hale Koa in Hawaii or Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in Germany — but it sits inside the Walt Disney World bubble with complimentary bus transportation to all four theme parks and Disney Springs.

Why Shades of Green matters

Three reasons most military families should at least consider it:

  • Flat-rate pricing year-round. Unlike Disney resorts, which fluctuate by season and day of week, Shades of Green charges the same rate every night of the year. A standard room runs roughly $179 to $257 per night depending on your rank category — significantly below comparable Disney Moderate or Deluxe pricing.
  • No taxes, no resort fees. Florida hotel taxes typically add 12 to 13% to your bill. Shades of Green charges none. Only parking ($17/day) is extra if you drive.
  • Tax-free Disney tickets. The Shades of Green ticket office sells Disney Military Salute tickets without sales tax, which adds another small layer of savings compared to buying directly from Disney.
Shades of Green eligibility (different from Salute program)

Shades of Green has its own eligibility rules, which are broader than the Disney Salute program in some ways and narrower in others. Importantly, non-retired veterans can stay at Shades of Green during January and September only.

  • Active duty, Reserve, and National Guard members
  • Cadets and Midshipmen of the service academies
  • Public Health Service and NOAA Commissioned Corps
  • Retired members (including gray-area retirees)
  • 100% disabled veterans
  • Involuntarily separated service members under TAMP
  • DoD civilians and DoD contractors assigned to U.S. military installations
  • Honorably discharged non-retired veterans — January and September only
Rate categories

Shades of Green pricing is based on three rank categories. Your category determines your nightly rate.

  • Category 1: E-1 through E-6
  • Category 2: E-7 through E-9, O-1 through O-3, WO-1 to CW-3, 100% disabled veterans, widows, Medal of Honor recipients
  • Category 3: O-4 through O-10, CW-4 and CW-5, DoD civilians, foreign military, DoD contractors, sponsored guests

Eligible guests can sponsor up to three rooms (and a dependent spouse can sponsor an additional three), allowing extended family and friends to stay on property at Category 3 rates. Reservations open 365 days before your arrival date — and for popular months like spring break or December, you’ll want to book early.

Should you stay at Shades of Green or a Disney resort?

It depends on your priorities. Shades of Green wins on price, space (the rooms are noticeably larger than Disney standard rooms), and freedom from resort fees. Disney resorts win on theming, transportation flexibility (Skyliner, monorail, in-park boats), Early Theme Park Entry, and Extended Evening Hours. For families with young kids who want full Disney immersion, a Disney resort may be worth the premium. For everyone else — especially larger families or longer stays — Shades of Green is usually the smarter financial call.

Disney Cruise Line Military Benefits in 2026

Disney Cruise Line doesn’t have a year-round Military Salute program the way the parks do, but they do offer military rates on select sailings throughout the year — and 2026 brings a significant new benefit tied to America’s 250th anniversary.

$250 onboard credit per stateroom

For 2026 sailings on the Disney Wish or Disney Dream departing from Florida, eligible active and retired military personnel receive a $250 onboard credit per stateroom. The credit applies even when combined with an already-discounted military cruise fare, meaning the total value can be substantial.

Military cruise rates

Throughout the year, Disney Cruise Line offers special military rates on a rolling selection of sailings. These rates vary by sailing and aren’t published on a consistent schedule — they appear, get booked up, and disappear. The best way to catch them is to work with a Disney-authorized travel agent who monitors them for you, or check the official Disney Cruise Line special offers page regularly.

Where to Buy Disney Military Tickets

You have four primary purchase options, each with its own pros and cons:

1. Military Base Ticket Office (MWR)
  • Pros: Tax-free pricing, sometimes lower than Disney-published rates, in-person help
  • Cons: Requires a base visit; tickets often issued as paper vouchers that you must exchange at Disney
2. Shades of Green Ticket Office
  • Pros: Tax-free, pre-activated tickets (no exchange needed at Disney), online order form available
  • Cons: Cannot initiate ticket orders by phone; you must use the web form or visit in person
3. Disney directly (online or at the gate)
  • Pros: Convenient, instant delivery, integrates directly into My Disney Experience
  • Cons: Includes Florida sales tax, no price negotiation
4. GOVX.com (Disneyland only)
  • Pros: Online purchase for Disneyland multi-day tickets
  • Cons: Disneyland tickets only; verification required

Our recommendation

For most military families, the smartest combination is Shades of Green for tickets (tax-free, pre-activated, no base visit required) and either Shades of Green or a Disney resort for lodging depending on what your family values. The savings from tax-free tickets compound across a family of four or five, and the pre-activated format means you walk straight to the park entrance without stopping at Guest Services.

Blockout Dates and Park Reservations: The Easy Things to Miss

Two operational details cost military families money every year. Both are avoidable.

Walt Disney World blockout dates for 2026
  • Spring Break: March 29 through April 11, 2026
  • Thanksgiving week: November 22 through 28, 2026

During these windows, the Salute tickets and the Disney Celebrates America ticket cannot be used. If you’re stationed somewhere with limited PTO and trying to plan around school spring break, this is a real constraint. Disneyland tickets, by contrast, have no 2026 blockout dates.

Park reservations are required

Every Disney military ticket in 2026 requires an advance park reservation for every day of entry. The reservation system has limited inventory, especially during peak periods. Buying the ticket doesn’t guarantee you can get into the park you want on the day you want.

The correct order of operations is: (1) check park reservation availability for your dates first, (2) then buy the tickets, (3) immediately make the park reservations for every day of your trip. If you buy first and then discover the parks are at capacity for your dates, you’re stuck — the tickets are non-refundable.

Five Mistakes Military Families Make with the Disney Discount

1. Assuming the discount applies to everything

The Military Salute program covers tickets and hotel rooms. It does NOT cover parking, dining, merchandise, PhotoPass/Memory Maker (sold separately at a discounted military price), or in-park experiences. Budget for these separately.

2. Not realizing the Celebrates America ticket isn’t an Annual Pass

It’s unlimited use during the 2026 window, but it doesn’t include the perks of an actual Annual Pass: free parking, dining discounts, merchandise discounts, or AP-exclusive lounges and events. If your family was hoping for Annual Pass benefits, this ticket isn’t the substitute.

3. Buying tickets before checking park reservation availability

Already covered above, but worth repeating. Park reservations are the bottleneck, not ticket availability.

4. Missing the new 2026 verification rule

At Walt Disney World in 2026, the service member or spouse must be present at the park entrance the first time the tickets are used. If you’re planning to gift tickets to extended family and not travel yourself, this changes the math. Talk to your travel agent or base ticket office before assuming the old rules apply.

5. Forgetting about Shades of Green

Most military families default to either staying at a Disney resort or staying off-property at a cheap chain hotel. They forget Shades of Green exists, or assume it’s hard to book. It’s neither. For most families, it’s the financially smartest option, and it sits inside the Disney property bubble.

Why Work with a Veteran-Owned Travel Agency

At Jinni Vacations, we’re a veteran-owned, family-operated travel agency that specializes in Disney trips for military families. Our founder, Dustin Perkins, served in the U.S. Coast Guard. We understand military life — the PCS moves, the deployment schedules, the leave windows that don’t quite line up with school breaks, and the financial pressure of trying to give your family a magical trip on a service member’s salary.

Here’s what working with us looks like for military families:

  • We compare Shades of Green vs. Disney resort pricing for your specific dates, not generic averages
  • We track Disney Cruise Line military rates as they’re released and flag the right ones for your situation
  • We handle park reservations the moment your tickets are purchased — no chasing inventory
  • We coordinate around blockout dates, PCS timing, and deployment windows
  • Our services are free to you — Disney pays the agent commission, not the client

If you’re starting to think about a 2026 Disney trip — or trying to figure out if Shades of Green, the Celebrates America ticket, or a Disney Cruise is the right move for your family — we’d love to help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my parents or in-laws use my Disney military tickets?

Yes. The service member or spouse can purchase up to 6 Military Salute tickets total. After yourself, the other 5 can be used by any family members or friends — including parents, in-laws, siblings, or close friends. At Walt Disney World in 2026, the service member or spouse must be present at the park entrance the first time the tickets are used; after that one-time check, your guests can enter on their own.

Can I use 2025 Salute tickets in 2026?

No. Salute tickets expire at the end of their offer period and cannot be used or extended into the next year. 2025 tickets expired December 27, 2025.

Does the military discount work for Universal Studios too?

Yes, Universal Orlando has its own Military Freedom Pass program, but it’s separate from Disney’s. Eligibility and pricing differ. We can help with Universal trips as well.

Can I combine the Disney military hotel discount with other Disney offers?

Generally no — the military room discount cannot be combined with most other Disney promotional offers. Disney may permit specific combinations, so always ask when booking.

What if I’m a veteran but not retired?

Non-retired veterans are not eligible for the Disney Military Salute ticket discount or hotel discount. However, honorably discharged non-retired veterans CAN stay at Shades of Green during January and September with a DD-214. 100% service-connected disabled veterans are eligible for both Salute tickets and Shades of Green year-round.

Does Disney Cruise Line have year-round military rates?

Not in the same structured way as the parks. Disney Cruise Line offers special military rates on select sailings throughout the year — they appear, get booked, and disappear. The 2026 $250 onboard credit on Disney Wish and Disney Dream sailings from Florida is a separate, broader benefit available all year.

Are park reservations included with the military ticket?

No. Park reservations are a separate step. You must make a park reservation for each day of entry, and reservations are subject to availability. Make them as soon as you purchase the tickets.

A Final Word

Disney built the Military Salute program because they value military families, and 2026 is genuinely one of the strongest years it has ever offered. But the program is also a maze of rules, eligibility categories, blockout dates, and verification requirements that change year to year. Most families leave money on the table simply because they don’t know what they don’t know.

If you’ve served — or you’re married to someone who has — you’ve earned this. Let us help you make the most of it. Request a free quote from Jinni Vacations and we’ll handle the rest.
