If you’ve served — or are still serving — Disney has one of the most generous discounts in the theme park industry waiting for you. The Disney Armed Forces Salute can save a military family hundreds, and in some cases over a thousand dollars on a single trip. But the program comes with eligibility rules, blackout dates, ID requirements, and a few new wrinkles for 2026 that catch a lot of families off guard.
As a veteran-owned travel agency, this is a benefit we know well — and one we love helping fellow military families take full advantage of. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2026 Disney military discount, from tickets and resort rates to Shades of Green and Disney Cruise Line.
What Is the Disney Armed Forces Salute?
The Disney Armed Forces Salute (sometimes called the Disney Military Salute) is Disney’s annual program offering steeply discounted theme park tickets and resort rooms to eligible U.S. military service members and their families.
For 2026, the program runs January 1, 2026 through December 18, 2026 at Walt Disney World, with select blackout dates. Disneyland’s offer runs slightly longer — through December 31, 2026.
This year is particularly noteworthy: in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, Disney introduced a brand-new ticket option called the Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket that essentially functions as a year-long pass.
Who Qualifies?
The Disney military discount is available to a broader group than most people realize. You qualify if you fall into one of these categories:
- Active-duty members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, or Space Force
- Retired members of any of those branches
- National Guard members and Reservists (active or retired)
- Members of the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS)
- Members of the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
- 100% disabled veterans (with a US Military ID marked DAVPRM)
- Un-remarried widows or widowers of service members
- Foreign military assigned to U.S. bases (with a U.S. Military ID)
- Spouses of any eligible service member, when presenting a valid and active U.S. military ID
One important note: the eligible service member or spouse must purchase the tickets, and only one of them can do it — not both. Each eligible member can buy up to 6 Military Salute tickets, one of which must be used by the eligible member themselves (or, if they have an Annual Pass, all 6 can be shared with family and friends, but the total allotment is reduced by one).
2026 Walt Disney World Ticket Options and Prices
There are two main ticket categories this year, and choosing the right one depends entirely on how you plan to visit.
Multi-Day Military Salute Tickets
These are available in 4-day, 5-day, and 6-day options, with two add-on choices:
- Park Hopper Option — visit more than one theme park on the same day
- Park Hopper Plus Option — adds water park, golf, mini-golf, and ESPN Wide World of Sports visits (one Plus visit per ticket day)
For reference, a regular 5-day Park Hopper ticket purchased directly from Disney runs upwards of $600 plus tax. The 5-day Military Salute Park Hopper for 2026 is $429 — and tax-free if purchased through Shades of Green or a base ticket office. That’s not a small savings.
Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket (NEW for 2026)
This is the year-long option, available in honor of America’s 250th anniversary:
- Park Hopper Option: $499
- Park Hopper Plus Option: $529
For comparison, a non-resident annual ticket equivalent would normally cost over $1,600. If your family is doing more than one Disney trip in 2026, or if you live close enough to make repeat visits, this is the standout deal of the year.
2026 Blackout Dates
These dates apply to both the multi-day tickets and the Celebrates America ticket — you cannot use them on:
- March 29 – April 11, 2026 (Spring Break / Easter)
- November 22 – November 28, 2026 (Thanksgiving week)
All Salute tickets expire on December 18, 2026 and cannot be extended.
2026 Resort Room Discounts
Disney is also offering discounted rooms at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels for stays most nights between January 1 and December 18, 2026. Discount levels vary by resort tier and travel dates:
- Value Resorts: up to 20% off
- Moderate Resorts: up to 25% off
- Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: up to 30% off
A few important caveats:
- The eligible service member or spouse must occupy the room and present a valid military ID at check-in.
- Discounts increase during peak summer travel — but rooms are limited, so book early.
- Up to 3 rooms can be booked per service member, but all rooms must be at the same resort and check in on the same day.
- Maximum stay length is 14 nights, but there’s no limit on how many times you can use the offer during the year.
Shades of Green: The Hidden Gem
If you haven’t heard of Shades of Green, you’re missing one of the best-kept secrets in military travel. It’s an Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) hotel located right on Walt Disney World property — adjacent to the Polynesian, between the Magnolia and Palm golf courses, two monorail stops from Magic Kingdom.
What makes Shades of Green exceptional:
- Pricing is based on military pay grade, with the deepest discounts going to junior enlisted families
- Standard rooms are the largest hotel rooms on Disney property — two queen beds, a sleeper sofa, table, refrigerator, and coffee maker
- Comparable to a Deluxe-tier resort experience at a fraction of Deluxe pricing (Deluxe rooms typically run $600+ per night)
- Complimentary bus transportation to all four Disney parks and Disney Springs
- On-site dining, two pools, fitness center, three golf courses, and laundry facilities
- The Shades of Green ticket office sells tax-free Military Salute tickets and discounted Florida Resident tickets
Shades of Green must be booked directly through their website — it’s not part of the standard Disney reservation system. Rooms book up fast, especially in summer, so plan well ahead.
Disney Cruise Line Military Rates for 2026
Disney Cruise Line doesn’t have a continuous Military Salute program like the parks, but they offer two solid benefits in 2026:
- A $250 onboard credit per stateroom for all 2026 sailings from Florida aboard the Disney Wish or Disney Dream
- Periodic special military rates on select sailings throughout the year — these come and go, so timing matters
If a Disney cruise is in your plans for 2026, it’s worth checking military rates as soon as you have flexibility on dates.
Where to Buy Your Tickets
You have several options, and the best choice depends on convenience and tax savings:
| Where | Tax-Free? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Base ticket office (MWR/ITT) | Yes | Often cheapest option; may issue vouchers instead of physical tickets |
| Shades of Green ticket office | Yes | On-property, tax-free, easy if you’re staying there |
| GOVX.com | No | Convenient online option for verified service members |
| Walt Disney World ticket window | No (tax applies) | Available on arrival but you’ll pay tax |
| disneyworld.disney.go.com | No (tax applies) | Convenient but tax applies |
New for 2026: First-Day Verification Rule
Heads up — this is a change that’s tripping up returning military families this year. Beginning in 2026, the eligible service member or spouse must be physically present the first day Salute tickets are used for theme park entry. After that one-time verification at the gate, the rest of the party can come and go independently for the remainder of the trip.
In years past, families could split up on day one. Not anymore. Plan your party to arrive together on day one.
Park Reservations Are Still Required
Don’t forget this step — it’s the most common reason military families show up and can’t get into the park they want. All Military Salute tickets, including the Celebrates America Ticket, require advance theme park reservations for each day of your visit.
- Link your tickets to your My Disney Experience account immediately after purchase
- Make reservations as soon as your trip dates are firm — they fill up
- Disney Celebrates America ticket holders can hold up to 5 reservations at a time on a rolling basis
How Much Could You Actually Save?
Let’s run a real example. A family of four (two adults, two kids) doing a 5-day Disney trip in 2026:
- Without the discount: 5-day Park Hopper tickets at standard pricing run roughly $620 per person, or about $2,480 total before tax.
- With the Military Salute: 5-day Park Hopper Military Salute tickets at $429 each = $1,716 total, tax-free if purchased through Shades of Green or a base.
That’s roughly $760+ in ticket savings alone, before you even factor in resort discounts, Memory Maker savings ($98 vs. standard pricing), or staying at Shades of Green.
For a Deluxe resort stay during peak summer, a 30% room discount can easily save another $1,000+ over a week-long trip. Add it all up, and the Disney Armed Forces Salute can knock $2,000+ off a typical military family’s vacation.
