disney cruise ship

If you’ve decided a Disney cruise is in your family’s future, congratulations — you’ve made the easy choice. Now comes the hard part: picking which ship.

For years, the answer was simple, because there were only four. In 2026, Disney Cruise Line has eight ships sailing across the globe, with another (the Disney Believe) on the way in 2027. They range from intimate 2,700-passenger classics to a record-breaking 6,700-passenger megaship in Singapore. Some are heavily themed around heroes and villains. Others lean into Frozen, Marvel, or Pixar. A few sail Alaska. One sails the Mediterranean. One never leaves a port at all.

Choosing the right ship matters more than most families realize — it shapes everything from the price you pay to the entertainment you’ll see to how crowded the pool deck feels. This guide will walk you through the entire 2026 fleet, what each ship is best at, and how to match a ship to your family.

The Three Classes of Disney Cruise Ships

Disney’s fleet is organized into three (soon to be four) classes, each with its own personality.

Magic ClassDisney Magic, Disney Wonder The originals. Smaller, more intimate, classic ocean-liner styling. About 2,700 passengers, 11 decks. Most budget-friendly entry point into Disney Cruise Line.

Dream ClassDisney Dream, Disney Fantasy The mid-sized “sweet spot” of the fleet. About 4,000 passengers, 14 decks. Home of the original AquaDuck water coaster. Sophisticated theming with broad family appeal.

Wish Class (also called Triton Class) — Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny The newest and most heavily themed ships. About 4,000 passengers in a slightly larger 144,000-ton hull. Each one is built around a different storytelling concept.

Global ClassDisney Adventure A class of its own. At 6,700 passengers, this is the largest ship Disney has ever sailed — and it never visits a port. Based in Singapore.

The Eight Ships of 2026

Disney Magic — The Charming Classic

The original Disney ship, launched in 1998 and “reimagined” in 2013. Art deco design, deep blue hull, and the most intimate feel in the fleet. Home to Rapunzel’s Royal Table (a themed dinner show), the AquaDunk thrill slide, and Marvel Day at Sea.

Best for: First-time cruisers, families with young princess-loving kids, budget-conscious families, and anyone who prefers a smaller-ship feel where you’ll see familiar faces every day.

2026 itineraries: Marvel Day at Sea sailings out of Galveston, TX in early 2026 (4- and 5-night Western Caribbean), then a Panama Canal repositioning, followed by an Alaska season starting April 19, 2026.

Price range: Inside cabins starting around $1,000–$1,500 per person on shorter sailings.

Disney Wonder — The Hidden Gem

Sister ship to the Magic, with art nouveau styling instead of art deco. Home to Tiana’s Place — the most beloved themed restaurant in the fleet, featuring live jazz and Princess Tiana herself. The Wonder is famous for unusual itineraries: Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand.

Best for: Families who want to sail somewhere unusual, Princess and the Frog fans, jazz lovers, and travelers who prefer destinations over ship amenities.

2026 itineraries: Alaska from Vancouver throughout the summer.

Price range: Similar to Disney Magic — among the most affordable options.

Disney Dream — The Family Favorite

Launched in 2011 and recently moved to Fort Lauderdale for much of the year. Home to the original AquaDuck water coaster — the first water coaster at sea. Marvel at Sea sails on the Dream. Ample adult spaces without sacrificing family fun.

Best for: Mixed-generation families, Marvel fans, and families who want a balance of “big ship features” and a more relaxed pool deck. Veteran Disney cruisers will tell you the Dream-class pool decks are still less crowded than the newer Wish-class ones.

2026 itineraries: 3- and 4-night Bahamian cruises from Fort Lauderdale, plus a European season in summer 2026.

Price range: $1,400–$2,500 per person typical range.

Disney Fantasy — The Elegant Sister

The Dream’s sister ship, often considered the most refined and adult-friendly of the fleet. Home to Frozen, A Musical Spectacular and the upscale French restaurant Remy. Pixar Day at Sea returns to the Fantasy in 2026.

Best for: Couples, multigenerational groups with adults who want quiet adult spaces, Frozen-loving kids, Pixar fans, and travelers who want a longer 7-night cruise from Florida.

2026 itineraries: 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral, with select Pixar Day at Sea sailings.

Price range: $1,400–$2,500 per person typical range.

Disney Wish — The Princess Ship

Launched in 2022 and the first of the Wish/Triton class. Heavily themed around Frozen, Star Wars, and Disney royalty. Home to Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, and the AquaMouse water coaster.

Best for: Families with princess-loving kids, Star Wars fans, first-time Disney cruisers who want the newest experience, and shorter Bahamian getaways. Bluey is also appearing on the Disney Wish for select sailings in summer 2026.

2026 itineraries: 3- and 4-night Bahamas sailings from Port Canaveral year-round.

Price range: $1,800–$3,500+ per person — premium pricing for the newer ships.

Disney Treasure — The Adventurer

Launched in December 2024, themed around Disney’s adventurous storytelling. Home to the Haunted Mansion Parlor — a stunning, fully-themed bar that fans rave about — and dining experiences inspired by Coco and Aladdin.

Best for: Families who loved the Wish but want longer sailings, fans of Pirates/Indiana Jones/Aladdin theming, adults who appreciate detailed bar theming.

2026 itineraries: 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral. A great pick for families combining a cruise with a Disney World stay.

Price range: $1,800–$3,500+ per person.

Disney Destiny — The Newest Ship Stateside

Disney’s seventh ship, launched November 20, 2025, sailing from Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades). Themed around Disney heroes and villains — the Grand Hall pays tribute to Marvel’s Black Panther, with stage shows including a full production of Hercules and a Lion King-themed dinner show. Travel + Leisure named it one of the top new cruise ships of 2026.

Best for: Marvel fans, Disney villain enthusiasts, families who want the absolute newest ship in the U.S. fleet, and cruisers based on Florida’s east coast (Fort Lauderdale is closer to Miami than Port Canaveral).

2026 itineraries: 4- and 5-night Bahamas and Western Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale, with two 7-night Caribbean itineraries during summer.

Price range: $2,141–$5,959 typical range — premium pricing as the newest stateside ship.

Disney Adventure — The Singapore Megaship

A category unto itself. Launched March 10, 2026, the Disney Adventure is Disney Cruise Line’s first ship based in Asia and the largest ship in the fleet at 6,700 passengers. Themed around Disney, Pixar, and Marvel storytelling, with three brand-new Marvel attractions and the original musical “Remember.” Notably, the Adventure offers “Magic at Sea” sailings only — short cruises with no port stops, focused entirely on the ship itself.

Best for: Families based in or traveling to Asia, Marvel superfans, and adventurous travelers who want a totally different kind of cruise experience.

2026 itineraries: 3- and 4-night sailings from Singapore (Marina Bay Cruise Centre) year-round.

Price range: Inside cabins from around $500 per person — but factor in international airfare.
